WELCOME:This handout is meant to answer your questions about the Exams, homework, etc.

HOMEWORK: Homework is posted on line.10% of your grade is computed from on-line homework using Lumen. You will have an opportunity to ask questions about some of the homework problems and the examples in the text. (The text has plenty of examples in each section. You are expected to read them). It is very easy to fall behind. The only way to prevent this from happening is to keep up with the assignments. There is a lot of material to cover. It is expected that you will spend a lot of time working on the problem sets. Please feel free to request an online meeting.

OFFICE HOURS: We can arrange a blackboard meeting by appointment

Exams: There will be 3 midterm Exams and a Final. The exact dates will be announced a week in advance and may differ from the date you were given when you registered. The final counts as two Exams. IF YOU MISS TWO QUIZZES YOU SHOULD DROP THE COURSE. P/NCR ARE NO LONGER BEING GIVEN FOR MATH 155. THERE ARE NO MAKEUP EXAMS.

GRADES: Your final grade will be based on 90% of the average of the exam total scores plus up to 10% for your homework (on Lumen). Your letter grade is computed as follows:

80-82.4=B-; 82.5-87.4=B; 87.5-89.9=B+; 90 - 92.4=A-; 92.5-97.4=A; 97.5-100= A+

IF YOU MISS THE FINAL and have a D or F average in the course (without dropping any grade!) YOU FAIL THE COURSE. IN ORDER TO RECEIVE AN INCOMPLETE YOU MUST HAVE A JUSTIFIED ABSENCE FROM THE FINAL EXAM AND HAVE TAKEN THE EXAMS WITH AN AVERAGE OF 70 OR MORE.
