Text: The text for this course will be ``Vector Calculus'', J. Marsden, A. Tromba, Fifth Edition, W. H. Freeman and Co..


Topics: The topics covered will be:

The Calculus of several variables: vector algebra in 3-space, partial derivatives, the total derivative, multiple integrals of various types, integral theorems and applications, Taylor's theorem, Implicit function theorem, Maxima and minima and Lagrange multiplier method, Divergence, Gradient, Curl, Green's Theorem, Gauss' Theorem, Stoke's Theorem, and applications.


Prerequisites: The prerequisites for G63.1002 are two semesters of calculus and some matrix theory. The prerequisites for V63.0224 are Calculus II, Calculus III, and Linear Algebra with a grade of C or better.


Exams: There will be one quiz at the end of the third week, a midterm exam at the beginning of the fifth week, and a final exam at the end of the term.


Homework: There will be homework due once a week. I will post the homework on this website.


Grading: The quiz will be worth 15% of the grade, the midterm exam is worth 30 % of your grade, the final is worth 40 %, and the homework is worth 15 %.
