Prof. Rob Thompson
Monday/Thursday 12:00 p.m. - 2:10 p.m.

My Office: My office is E902 Hunter East. The phone number is (212) 650-3831 and my email address is robert.thompson@hunter.cuny.edu. The web page for this course is http://math.hunter.cuny.edu/thompson/math155. My office hours this semester will be Monday 11:00-12:00, Thurs. 11:00-12:00, and by appointment.

The second exam will be on Thursday, April 2. It will cover the following sections: 8.7, 8.8, 9.1, 9.2, 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4.

WebAssign: We will be using WebAssign for the homework in this course. This is an online homework system. In order to login, and register, go to https://www.webassign.net/login.html. The class key for this course is hunter 2030 5282. If you purchased your book last semester at the Hunter Book Store, and you bought the bundle which included WebAssign, and you saved the access code, then that is what you will use. If you bought the book new this semester at the Hunter Book Store, then you can go to the bookstore to purchase the access code, at the bundle price, separately. If you got the book anywhere besides the Hunter books store, then you will have to purchase the access code online from http://www.ichapters.com

Text: ``Single Variable Calculus'', James Stewart, sixth edition. We will cover the following sections: 7.1-7.6, 7.8, 8.1-8.5, 8.7-8.8, 9.1-9.2, 11.3-11.4, 12.1-12.11

Homework: I will assign homework problems every week. The homework wil count for 10% of your grade. It will count indirectly for a lot more than this because without doing the homework you are not likely to do well on the exams. You will be submitting the homework via WebAssign, an online homework delivery system. I will convey more about this later.

Exams: There will be three exams and a cumulative final exam. The exams will count for 90% of your grade. The final will weight as much as two midterm exams. The dates of the exams will be announced well in advance.

Your lowest exam grade will be dropped. (If the final is the lowest grade it will be counted as one exam.) If you miss an exam, that will count as your lowest grade, so it will be dropped. If you miss the final exam you will receive a grade of WU. If you miss two exams prior to the final then your status in the course will be in serious jeopardy, and you must come and see me, but even then I make no promises. There are no makeup exams.

Your Grade: Your grade (not counting pluses and minuses) for the course will be based on the average of your exam scores and will be computed as follows:

0-59=F; 60-69=D; 70-79=C; 80-89=B; 90-100=A.

If you stop attending the course and do not withdraw, you will receive a grade of WU. There are no exceptions.

You may elect to take the course on a credit/no credit if you are eligible, but I strictly adhere to the College's rules on credit/no credit, which means you that you will not be eligible for credit/no credit grading unless you have attended most class periods, taken all the exams, including the Final, and completed most of the homework.
